Connecting cultures through Argentinian treats

From Argentina to Nova Scotia: Molde Bakery & Food brings authentic flavours and heart to the community

“All our medialunas are baked with love and excellent ingredients.” Elbio Chiliano

Molde Bakery & Food was born from founder Elbio Chiliano’s masterful blend of die-making and passion for Argentinian cuisine. After finding a fresh beginning in Nova Scotia, he now shares his heritage through authentic, unforgettable flavours.

Launched April 23, 2023, in Dartmouth, we handcraft Argentina’s most beloved icons — medialunas (not a typical croissant), alfajores, and dulce de leche delights — made with authentic recipes, a local twist and ingredients.

Our story is one of bold reinvention. After years in metalworking, Elbio followed his calling: first training as a chef in 1999, then mastering pastry in 2018. Moving to Nova Scotia with his family offered new stability and opportunity — and a chance to share Argentina’s rich flavours with his new community.

His first market in Bedford proved that these unique flavours are a hit. Nova Scotians quickly embraced our tastes, filling hearts and tables alike.

Today, you can find us at Alderney Landing Farmers Market and online—delivering fresh-baked goods that spark memories and connect cultures. For us, food brings people together, stirs emotions and makes people feel at home, no matter where they come from.

Mission, Vision & Values

Our Mission

At Molde Bakery & Food, we bring the authentic flavours of Argentina to Nova Scotia— fresh, homemade, artisanal, prepared with love and produced locally.

Every medialuna and alfajor is meant to trigger memories, smiles and a sense of togetherness — so that when you taste them, you feel the warmth of our culture and the passion we put into every detail.

We believe in the power of community. We support local and immigrant-owned businesses, sharing a little piece of Argentina with our new home.

Our Vision

We dream of becoming Halifax’s go-to destination for Argentinian flavours— a place where every bite tells a story of tradition, creativity, and connection.

Our goal is to grow by introducing new specialties, such as empanadas, pizzas, and Argentinian pasta, and to continue building bridges between cultures.

Each bite sparks happy memories, making us part of your homes and the larger Nova Scotia family— where we celebrate togetherness and diversity through delicious food.

Our Values

Argentinian roots. Trained in Argentinian cooking and pastry art, we craft each product using heritage recipes that reflect our passion for authentic flavour.

Quality ingredients. We use top-tier chocolate and other ingredients, along with traditional dulce de leche, blending the best of both worlds — authentic taste and local quality.

Purely natural. Free from preservatives or additives, ensuring our products are fresh, genuine, and wholesome.

Handcrafted. Every piece is made by hand with patience, family dedication and lots of love.

Original flavour. Every product reflects the precision of a master craftsman, ensuring consistent quality and uncompromised taste.

These values guide us every day and reflect our commitment to freshness, authenticity and the Nova Scotia community.
